Katie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an independently planned major in studio art and biology at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. During her time at Oglethorpe, Katie earned many academic achievements and held memberships in academic honor societies such as Omicron Delta Kappa. She also held a membership and leadership positions in the Epsilon Theta chapter of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. In addition to a successful academic career at Oglethorpe, Katie was also a member of the Oglethorpe women’s golf team. In her four years as a student athlete, she served her team as captain for two years and received multiple athletic honors such as Female Scholar Athlete of the year in 2009.
In preparation for applying to graduate school at MCG, Katie spent the fall of 2010 interning at Nucleus Medical Media. It was there that she learned the basic skills in digital media she needed to successfully pursue a medical illustration career.
Katie earned a Master of Science degree in Medical Illustration at the Medical College of Georgia (now Georgia Regents University). She also serves as a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators. She currently resides in Richmond, VA doing her part to contribute to the medical illustration field.
